The Immigrant Solidarity Group began meeting as an informal interest group in late 2016, to explore ways Mount Toby Friends could stand with and support undocumented people in our community. In September 2017, Mount Toby’s Meeting for Business recognized the Immigrant Solidarity Group (ISG) as a group not having formal Committee status, but reporting directly to Meeting for Business, and charged with organizing the Mount Toby community to provide support and solidarity to immigrants in our region. ISG has presented multiple forums to the Meeting, and participated in events outside of Mount Toby. Under the leadership of ISG, Mount Toby has become a Level 2 Sanctuary Support congregation, committed to supporting the Level 1 congregations that provide physical sanctuary in their places of worship for undocumented immigrants.
Some ways to support our immigrant neighbors are here.
