Capital Punishment
letter sent to newspapers, legislators, and the Governor, November 1991

We declare our unwavering opposition to capital punishment.  The sanctity of human life is one of the fundamentals of society and can in no circumstances be set aside. Sanctioning of taking of human life by the State has a debasing effect on the community in that it fosters the mistaken belief that killing is a justifiable and effective form of problem solving. Because of this, we urge the Governor and legislators of massachusetts not to reinstate the death penalty in this state.
