Peace and Social Concerns Committee, 8/28/17

Roxanne told of the transition from the WM AFSC to the new Resistance Center for Peace and Justice. This will be an independent local organization, though it may get some initial help from AFSC. Roger stated his feeling that “resistance” in the title is a poor choice; some others agreed. “Reconciliation” center was suggested. “Action” center was suggested. We considered proposing that Mount Toby give to the Resistance Center this year the amount which has been sent to WM AFSC in earlier years, but we will wait for more info about the organization first.

We looked over the 8/28/117 version of the proposal to create a new Immigrant Solidarity Committee and felt comfortable with it. We support the creation of the new committee.

Letter writing on third Sundays: for September 17^th We are waiting for someone to come forward to handle letter writing on that day.

We have a spot for an 11:40 series this fall, and Friends should be thinking about how to find a focus for it.

We ended as we had begun, with a period of silence.
